2008 bmw 535xi review
We were much impressed by our first encounters with BMW's 3. But the performance of this versatile power module is even more impressive hitched to a bigger buggy, such as the all-wheel-drive version of the BMW 5-series sedan. The xi's numbers may not seem quite as newsworthy-until you consider its mass: pounds, more pounds than the coupe in our November '06 test and about more pounds than the rear-drive i, per BMW. The xi was further handicapped, albeit only slightly, by the six-speed Steptronic automatic. No surprise that the coupe was quicker: 0 to 60 in 4. The xi got to 60 in 5.

xi and the Infuriating Shift Mechanism
Each ranking was based on 9 categories. Here is the summary of top rankings. Beautiful driving machine. It is a BMW so it is higher maintenance car. Even though the car can run well pass k BMW tries to push you to another vehicle.

Same Carriage, Fresh Horses
BMW's current 5 Series carries such dramatic styling that it's not hard to understand why the "significant freshening" for the early-release models doesn't appear all that different from the Bangle-esque design it adopted in ; to be honest, it's hard to distinguish a from a unless they are side by side. For those of you more eagle-eyed than I, look for the now-all-white headlight lenses, new taillights with fancy red lines, reshaped front air dam and new rear bumper design. The much-maligned iDrive system now includes six programmable "favorites" buttons and leather-trimming for the controller It's interesting that with each new iteration of iDrive, more "old-fashioned" knobs appear on the center stack.
The Good The BMW i drives like a dream, getting power from its brilliantly engineered, twin-turbo, 6-cylinder engine. The integration of live traffic with the car's navigation system is the finest we've seen; its hands-free cell phone system is top notch; and the audio quality from its premium sound system is excellent. Destination entry on the navigation system isn't as easy as it could be, and it doesn't default to a map display. The Bottom Line The BMW i is a really exceptional car, offering a great driving experience and an impressive array of electronics in the cabin.
